Description

How have burial customs changed over the years? From front-porch wakes in pine boxes to funeral home parlors in steel and mahogany caskets, burial practices have gone through a revolution in the last 150 years.

Ryan and Phil Freeman will take us on a journey of changes in embalming, cremations, and coffins over the years.

Nancy Thompson will be on hand to tell us about the earliest cemeteries and burials in Jefferson City as well as Negro and Hebrew cemeteries and religious customs.
