The Curious Turtle was born from a lifelong love of books and a deep-rooted passion for family, learning, and community. As a Jefferson City native, I grew up surrounded by great stories—at home and in the library. Books were how I made sense of the world and sparked curiosity that carried me into adulthood.
Now as a mom to two boys, I’m walking that same path again—seeking out meaningful stories, high-quality games, and hands-on learning tools to nurture wonder in their lives. I’ve also been fortunate to already be part of the small business world through my family’s other venture, Hometown Appliance Repair, which showed me firsthand how local businesses can bring heart and connection to a community.
Opening The Curious Turtle felt like a natural next step. I wanted to create a space in downtown Jefferson City where families, educators, and readers of all ages could find thoughtfully chosen books, imaginative games, and beautiful gifts that reflect the values I grew up with. This isn’t just a bookstore—it’s a space for slowing down, discovering something new, and building a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.
